Oh, space, an endless territory that has always captivated humans through history. But in the lastest decades, it has been showing us its secrets and started something called the space race among nations and governments. However, in recent years, that race has changed its main characters, and now millionaires are taking hold of the advances and technology to reach the stars. Two of the most prominent players in this space race are Elon Musk with SpaceX and Jeff Bezos with Blue Origin, but who is the closest to win it? Keep reading to find out!
SpaceX vs. Blue Origin: comparison
Comparing both companies is a little hard because they want pretty much the same: put their ships into orbit and take humans to space, whether to the moon or Mars needs to be defined. But SpaceX and Blue Origin approach situations and problems with different mindsets, and pairing it with other aspects, we get an interesting comparison. Check out the following table.

Who will win, SpaceX or Blue Origin?
This is a tough one! Simply put, both have impressive ideas, amazing plans, the money to do whatever they want, and the drive to pursue their dreams of conquering space. However, there are many things to take into consideration, plus they want anyone that can afford the ticket to go to space, but health and ethics play an important role here. Moving on to another point, you need to look at their reach, Elon Musk has pursued to become himself a brand, and he is worldwide known. In contrast, Jeff Bezos is known thanks to Amazon, but the company faces some problems due to COVID-19. This has changed how the public sees him, and he announces at the beginning of the year his retirement as CEO of the company.
While these millionaires are fighting in the space race, we can’t forget that there are established and recognized organizations in charge of everything about space like NASA, which is composed of scientists, engineers, and pilots with a background in the military forces of their own countries, that don’t care about petty fights among rich men. They care about facts, data, numbers, details, and how to get to the moon again, not what Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos are doing. But NASA understands the benefits of an association with one of them, leading us to the latest news: SpaceX is the winner of a contract for $2.9 billion to build a Moon Lander that can take American astronauts to our natural satellite.
That was a huge blow to Blue Origin, meaning that maybe the hard and intense strategy that Musk is doing for SpaceX is giving amazing results. They are running fast and presenting incredible ideas. While Blue Origin has always taken small but measured steps into its plans and ideas, falling short and given the advantage to the competition. So far, the clear winner is SpaceX, but there are still many months in 2021, so maybe Blue Origin can surprise us!
