Telegram video conferences
The big news with the latest upgrade was the start of group video calls, which WhatsApp was already using. Still, Telegram has taken them onto another level, trying to emulate what Zoom, Microsoft, and Google have been showing these past years with confinement and all. However, there is still so much to know about this new feature. How many participants want to compete with the titans, and what other functions will this feature offer.
Telegram CEO Pavel Durov was the one to announce the launch of this new function. Still, without giving important details, so far, they only have indicated that it will be available in any OS from iOS to Android, not forgetting the tablet and desktop versions of the app. Another great detail will be the possibility of sharing the screen of one of the users. That way, presentations or other media can be seen by all the participants.
The most important aspect of this new feature is the encrypted system that it will use, users, value a lot their security which is the main problem from the competitors such as WhatsApp and Messenger, Telegram will use the same system that it offers through the chats make it a more professional app even when it’s in the same category as WhatsApp. This feature was announced a year ago, but the developers just presented the final upgrade this month. - Payments 2.0: this a new upgrade for a service that has existed since 2017. Of course, it uses third-party payment providers like Strike, but you can definitely pay through Telegram. From ordering food at home to paying the uber, everything using just the app! However, now you can use your credit card in the chat and even add a tip, sounds great. The app assures that the information will be sent directly to the payment provider. The shipping information is sent to the merchant. Nothing will be stored by Telegram. It will not receive commissions from this.
- Schedule voice chats: this is the new trend. Voice chats similar to a clubhouse. Actually, Telegram is not the first app to present this one. The latest upgrade is that a group can now schedule a voice chat. This is made by the administrator. A countdown will be displayed at the top of the chat, and the participants will be notified. When the countdown reaches zero, the admin should play “Star Now,” and the voice chat can begin.
- New Web Version: users were asking for a new web version similar to the desktop one because the web version was outdated. Now users have two web versions: dark mode, animated stickers, access to all the chat features, and a lot more.
- Pinch to zoom: now, you can zoom in on the photos directly from the chat. It’s no longer necessary to access the media viewer to watch them better.
- Video Player Improvements: this is for mobile versions of iOS and Android. You can now fast-forward or play the video using small buttons on the screen for Apple users or just touching the screen for the Android ones.
